べんがら壁とやもり
岡山の旅館で竜馬が泊まった部屋。べんがら壁で赤い色。
日没も近い頃。すすっとやもりが一匹。ちらっとこちらを見た眼がきらっと光りました。
都会の人たちは生き物がいるとぞくっとするけれど、よくよく見るとほっとしますね。
家の暖かさ、人の暖かさを感じますものね。

a highly regarded figure in Japanese history,
once stayed at this inn.
In the light from the setting sun,
a gekko runs across the fusuma partition.
It stands out vividly against the rouge red paper.
I feel the special warmth
of home and humanity in rural Japan,
when it pauses to look at me through its shining eyes.
