大木

一本の大木。
厳しい冬の中生き残ったんだね。
草原のゆるやかな斜面が川面に続いています。
転がるように走ってみたい。
サウンドオブミュージックの
オープニングのように…。
子供と先生の姿が目に浮かぶ。

Lonely Tree

On the prairie winters are harsh,
but this tree is a sur vivor.
In the distance I can see the river
from which the land slopes upward
toward where I am standing.
I suddenly imagine rolling down that
slope, like the family in Sound of Music.
