ユタ州へ伸びているMormon トレイル( 道路)。
移民たちのかつての道路。
ここからまだ1000km あります。
150年前に大陸横断鉄道がひかれる前の
主要道路。未舗装のまま。
いつ頃誰がローズヒップ( バラの一種。ハマナス)
を植えたんだろう？
それとも馬から種が落ちたんだろうか？
元気いっぱいに陽をあびてピンクが明るい。

Roses on the Mormon Trail

A hundred f ifty years ago,
the Mormons had to cross a thousand
miles of the Great Plains before they
reached Utah. Was it they who planted
these roses, whose rose hips became
tea and jam for later travelers?
